FAQ

How do I get into the building?

Our studio is located in a private space inside Donart Electronics. You can find our space by searching “Root to Rise Yoga” or “1005 Robinson Highway, McDonald, PA 15057” in your navigation app. Once parked, you’ll find the entrance to the studio on the left side of the building (the side nearest to our neighbors at Reaxis). We have our own separate entrance. Root to Rise Yoga students are not permitted to enter the studio through the main entrance to Donart at the front of the building.

Where do I park?

Ample parking is available to the front, the right, and the back of the building. In order to be mindful of the Donart employees who arrive to the building around 8AM on weekdays, we ask that Root to Rise Yoga students avoid the spaces marked “Reserved Parking: Donart Employees Only” and park out front or toward the back of the right side of the building when taking our Tuesday and Thursday 7AM classes.

How do I book myself into class?

Students can book themselves into class using the Mindbody app. This is a free app available for download in the App Store. Once downloaded, you’ll make a profile.

  3. Select “Weekly Offerings.”

Do I have to pre-register for class?

Yes. Because space in the studio is limited, students should book for class in advance using the Mindbody app. While we will accept walk-ins if there is space in the studio, we will not permit students to join if we are at capacity as it diminishes the experiences of the other students present. If you are curious about how many people are signed up to attend a particular class, you can click on a class on our schedule on Mindbody and see the number of spots taken and available.

What happens if I late cancel class or don’t show up to class when I’m registered?

Out of respect for our instructors and the other students in our community, we ask that you cancel your booking 1 hour prior to the start of class. Students who have a class pack (5 or 10) or a drop-in will lose the equivalent of 1 class on their pass if they fail to cancel within the window or no show class. Students with an unlimited membership will not be penalized, though frequent late cancellations or no shows will be taken into consideration and could bar you from purchasing an unlimited membership in the future.

What happens if I arrive late?

While we hope that students will arrive 5-15 minutes early to give them time to settle into the space, we understand that things come up. Students can arrive up to five minutes late without penalty, but after that time the entrance will be locked and your absence will be treated as a late cancellation or no show.

What if I need to leave early?

If you know you need to leave class early, please alert the instructor upon arrival. Putting on your shoes, rolling up your mat, or fumbling with your belongings can be extremely disruptive to those around you. Because of this, we ask that you leave before savasana, or our final meditation, out of respect for your fellow students. If there is an emergency or an unplanned exit, please do your best to exit swiftly and quietly; there is no need to provide notice or an explanation to the instructor in this case.

What is the temperature of the studio?

Unless otherwise noted in the class description, all of our weekly offerings take place in a warm room of roughly 75 degrees. While we do not currently have any hot yoga offerings, we may add them to the schedule in the future. In the case that we do, they will be clearly marked as such in the listing and description.

I am a beginner. What class should I attend?

All of our regular weekly offerings are intended to be all levels friendly, with clear cues to guide you into and out of each pose. Our Monday 6PM Foundations class may also appeal to beginners. In this set class the sequence is the same each week, we move at a slightly slower pace, and extra cueing is provided to help students settle into a version of each shape that feels right to them.

I am looking for a gentler practice. What class should I attend?

Our Thursday 7:30PM Root & Restore class may appeal to those interested in a gentler practice (see Formats tab for more details). However, it can still be challenging to settle into grounded shapes for an extended period of time. We recommend heeding the instructor’s advice for using the available props in each shape and listening to your body. As is the case in any class, students should feel comfortable modifying or exiting a shape that causes them any pain or too much discomfort.

I am interested in learning and practicing advanced physical postures. What class should I attend?

You’ll find opportunities to challenge yourself in each of our weekly offerings, but students interested in advanced asanas should keep their eyes on our schedule for upcoming workshops and pop-up classes exploring binds, backbends, arm balances, and more.

I’m sensitive to smoke and/or certain scents. Should I let the instructor know?

Yes. Our studio frequently engages the sense of smell by burning incense and providing students with cool, scented cloths or drops of essential oils in a variety of scents. Please consult with the instructor upon arrival. We are happy to accommodate you.

Does the studio have a cellphone policy?

Yes. We ask that you silence the ringer on your cellphone, place your phone on “Do Not "Disturb,” and leave it with your other belongings in the cubbies in the check-in area. We can all unplug for one hour out of our often tech-heavy days. If there’s an emergency or a situation that requires you to have your cellphone at your mat, please let the instructor know upon arrival.
